The head of CAL, Yusuke Hioka, was granted NZ$199,996 as the National Science Challenge Science for Technological Innovation (SfTI) Seed Project to conduct a project titled “Practical solutions for outdoor localisation using acoustics in conservation” (https://www.sftichallenge.govt.nz/news/seed-2020-project-funding-announcement/).

The project will be co-led by Prof Stephen Marsland, Victoria University of Wellington, who is also leading the AvianZ project, in collaboration with Dr Susan Ellis, GNS Science.
