We recently published a new journal paper in Speech Communication authored by the members of the CAL (Yusuke Hioka, Justine Hui, and Clara Zhang) with our collaborators. The paper presents a spatial sound reproduction method for studying how listeners with different language immersion levels perceive speech in realistic acoustic environments. The study shows that this approach can approximate real-room conditions and capture key effects such as the first-language advantage and spatial release from masking.
